The SIF Quality Model is an initiative of the Nonprofit Quality Centre (NQC). NQC was established in 2001 within Social Innovation Foundation (SIF) in order to manage the activities of SIF in the field of quality management and development.

Quality is a basic element within any organization. With the SIF Quality Model our partners can implement a unique system, designed specially to meet the specific needs of the non-profit sector. The Model can be obtained by attending the five module training programme.

The SIF Quality Training Programme

The SIF Quality Model is available either for independent organisations or groups, imposed in both cases to each applicant. The development process is managed through a five-module course, with the support of SIF’s quality experts. During the course, participants can attain methodology on organisational development, management and regulation, and satisfaction measures.

The number of modules, an organisation attends, is due to its needs and possibilities. The course is set up by modules being built on each other, therefore it can be suspended or re-entered according to the preferences.

It is advantages of the course that it highly builds on the active participation of the employees of the participating organisation, therefore the employees are highly concerned about running the system. Within each module, participants receive tasks that they have to solve in order to take the next module, the next step.

In the first module, participants learn about the basics of organisational development with respect to the resources and operation, and they receive theoretical instructions which are necessary to complete their “Homework”. Our experts have designed a survey according to the special features of NGOs, which is being distributed in order to assess the participant’s own organisation. Another dispensed material is the first edition of the Operation Manual, which sets out the basic control system of operation. To get in to the next level, participants have to complete the survey and customize the Operation Manual nr. 1. In order to prepare these materials they can apply for consultation once within the period between the first and second training. The result of the module is that the organisation gets a picture on its current assets and weaknesses, and prepares its own organisational control system.

In the second module, participants learn about quality issues and the main quality-related questions of the non-profit sector. Requirement and satisfaction is in the centre of this module, therefore the second edition of the Operation Manual is to be dispensed, which implements the quality control within the organisation. Participants will have to customize the sample in order to enter the third module, and they can apply for consultation once within the period preceding the fourth session. The result of the second module is that the organisation would have a functioning quality control system, and apply quality development methods. (Recommended testing period: 1 month.)

After the 1 month testing period, participants can learn more about implementing satisfaction measures in the third module. In the theoretical part of the training, they learn about the factors of satisfaction measures, such target groups and methodology. To create a functional satisfaction-measure system, forms and survey samples are provided for the participants. The task of the organisation will be to prepare/customize and use their tools. The result of the third module is that the organisation learns more about the requirements of all parties involved in their operation, meeting those requirements, growth in the satisfaction of the parties, overall the improvement of operation.

Within the fourth module, our experts would check up the operation of the organisation at spot, according to the previously developed Operation Manuals (nr. 1 and 2.). The result of the fourth module is the report by our experts including the evaluation of the current system and further recommendations in order to prepare the organisation for the certification by a third party.

The fifth module is of the certification by a third a party. Our clients can acquire a proof of their quality control system by CERTOP Ltd., a leading Hungarian audit company. With this, the developed system becomes official, and the proof can be beneficial in tender procedures, governmental outsourcing, etc.
